TEDxYouth@Warsaw 2011
Our first true spin-off. 13 turned out to be a pretty lucky number of speakers. Held on Sept. 9th, brought together not only high school pupils, but also Marcin Iwiński – co-founder of CDProjekt group. Three sessions under the theme “It’s your turn!” were inspirational enough to get a whole page coverage (PL) in largest Polish newspaper.
TEDxWarsaw 2011
TEDxWarsaw generated a crowd of nearly six hundred at the brand new Copernicus Science Centre. With talks ranging from architecture as national identity to traditional polish foods, and from thinking plants to walking across Siberia and undersea discovery there really was something for everyone. TEDx moments abounded, not least Grzegorz Niedzwiedzki pulling a dinosaur bone from a matchbox, while our friends at Play and Nokia provided their unstinting support as well as some fun experiences for the attendees.
TEDxWarsawWomen
Dec 8th. Second workshop-style event. Organised around a live stream from TEDWomen in Washington, DC. Stocznia again agreed to be our host. Some great women, including Ruth Pearce (Australia’s ambassador to Poland) Paula Lerner (award-winning photojournalist) and Aga Szóstek (user experience expert) agreed to give short talks. Małgosia and Ralph organised this one and Ewa Spohn (TEDxKrakow licensee and Our Friend Down South) led it.
TEDxWulkan
Our first really small, workshop-style event inspired by the spectacularly disruptive Eyjafjallajokull eruptions, to the theme of It’s Impossible. But doable. Held at Stocznia. Nine great speakers (including three from TEDxWarsaw with brand new talks and six new ones) plus lots of time for chatting. Organised by Ralph and Adam and held on April 25th.
TEDxWarsaw 2010
The Main Event: a Big Thing. 5th March 2010, a whole-day conference themed Collaboration. A beautiful venue, nearly 400 attendees, 24 superb speakers and musicians. A highly successful live stream with thanks to SteamOnline (over 700 000 server hits – only the Prime Minister has got more), extensive media coverage. An extraordinary networking opportunity which really started the TEDx community in Poland off on the right foot. The team really came together on this one, with huge contributions from Adam, Julian, and everyone else. Our thanks to the sponsors and partners, especially the main sponsor – Play dla Firm, and the University of Warsaw for being a gracious host.
BeforeTEDx
A relatively small public meeting (under 60 attendees) held in the evening on 20th Nov 2009 in The Old Library of the University of Warsaw. Selected TED Talks and short TED story presented by Julian (fresh back from TEDIndia) and Ralph, but mostly lots of team building.
