Anna Giza

Anna Giza is a sociologist, philosopher and social commentator interested in social change and family issues in contemporary Poland. She is the Vice Dean for Reasearch of the Faculty of Sociology and Philosophy at The University of Warsaw. Her books and academic papers deal with gender and politics, ethnic conflict, family and relationships within contemporary life and the nature of democracy in the Polish context; her “Changing Social Ties” (”Przemiany więzi społecznych”) co-written with Mirosława Marody won the 2005 Jan Długosz Prize for achievement in humanities. Anna has written and commented broadly on such varied issues as consumerism, educational standards, social consciousness, labour relations and the realities of Polish politics.
